Our Team

We know that the first five years of life have a deep and lasting impact on your child’s development, so we’re honored to be included in the process of shaping your children’s future.

At Kids’ Work, we hire passionate, dedicated and loving educators who are committed to making a difference in children’s lives. We follow a multi-step, rigorous interview process with extensive observation hours to ensure a good fit in the classroom. We meet and exceed all DCFS staffing requirements, with a high percentage of director and teacher qualified staff. We follow a detail-oriented training process for all new teachers as well as ongoing professional development as teachers grow with us. We offer structured administrative guidance and have high expectations of staff accountability. Meet our team…

Sarah Cudnik

Owner & Executive Director

With a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, and eight years of primary classroom teaching experience, Sarah has an extensive knowledge of early childhood curriculum and a wealth of creative ideas.

“I grew up in my Mom’s in-home daycare, the original Kids’ Work, and believe that children learn best when they are loved, supported and provided with the opportunity to explore the world around them. Kids’ Work Chicago was born out of a wish to maintain my career as an educator, have a family and spend as much time with my children as my mom spent with me.”

Lynda MacHaila

Lynda’s nurturing personality and hands-on approach towards learning have provided a secure and enlightening environment for many generations of children and parents. As the original founder of Kids’ Work, Lynda has provided licensed care for a little over thirty years.

“Helping children explore and learn in a hands-on environment brings me happiness and I’m committed to the continued growth and evolution of Kids’ Work Chicago. It is here that we’ll learn something new and laugh every day and in doing so, we’ll change the world.”

Lindsey Smith

Kids’ Work Chicago Director

Originally from Iowa, Lindsey’s love and fascination for child development inspired her to gain her Master’s Degree in Child Development from Erikson Institute with specializations in Infancy and Administration. While in her Master’s program, Lindsey gained significant experience from her Internship at Kids’ Work Chicago Too. After her internship, Lindsey continued to work with Kids’ Work Chicago Too as a Lead Infant teacher and then Lead Toddler teacher. Lindsey was only too happy to continue her professional career as director of Kids’ Work Chicago.

“While Kids’ Work is a childcare center, it is the home away from home that families want and deserve.”

Jessica Shekleton

Kids’ Work Chicago Too Director

Jessica studied Family and Consumer Sciences with an endorsement in child & daycare services at Eastern Illinois University and holds a Master’s degree from Saint Xavier University in Educational Administration. She has over 10 years of experience directing a preschool program and teaching in a child development lab.  Possessing a contagious enthusiasm for curriculum development and teaching pedagogy, Jessica is thrilled to be the director of Kids’ Work Too, our second building location.

“I am elated to be able to work in such a positive environment, where teachers and parents are supported and all share the common goal of encouraging each child to be the creative, intelligent and unique person that he or she was born to be.”
