We “Scaffold” Activities To Support Your Child’s Growth

Scaffolding is the act of adjusting your support to suit an individual child at a developmentally appropriate level. This:

  • builds confidence
  • develops skills
  • supports bonding

Most people who spend time with young children are using a form of scaffolding every day without knowing it, just by supporting them in learning new ideas and skills.

Together you’ll learn about the world around you and make new discoveries in a unique, interactive way. You’ll also enjoy lasting memories together!

FAQs

Providing your child with a safe, enriching, nurturing experience is incredibly beneficial for their development, and for your peace of mind. When looking at other options, such as a nanny, it can be difficult to find care that goes above and beyond with enriching activities, feeling a sense of trust, and reliable care. At Kids’ Work, you can be confident that your child’s needs are being met by qualified and loving staff, your child is safe and well cared for, our doors are open to your family, and that their development is being supported. We believe that young children learn through a strong caregiver connection, healthy routines, play and social interaction, and meaningful learning opportunities, so we create an environment where this can happen safely.

When looking for a reputable daycare, it is important to do your research. Start by searching online for local daycare centers and read reviews from other parents about the staff, facilities, standards of care, and overall customer experience. Ask family or friends if they have any personal recommendations based on their experiences with local daycares. You can find suggestions on your favorite social media outlet, such as Facebook and Instagram, which will often show updates and highlights about the center!

Children as young as infant age are very social, and benefit from forming trusting relationships with other adults and interacting with peers. In a safe, healthy, and stimulating environment, children thrive, and this experience can be a great way to jumpstart their educational and social development. Classrooms foster a sense of independence in young children, allowing them to learn how to play and collaborate with other kids at an early age.

At Kids’ Work, we establish an understanding of each student’s development and design active learning environments where children can take part in structured activities that encourage physical activity, creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. We see that this play-based learning gives children opportunities for hands-on exploration and experimentation that allows them to grow and develop a love for learning. Our aim to not only support students’ mental and physical growth, but their heart, sense of community, and confidence!

At Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview, the safety and security of our children are the top priority. We have implemented a variety of measures in order to ensure optimal protection for your little ones.

Our administrative team is highly qualified and experienced, with a range from 1-15 years of experience here at Kids’ Work! We hire professional staff who have a love for working with children and are dedicated to working hard to provide quality care. All staff must pass background checks and participate in ongoing professional development to ensure they are engaged and following best practices.

We go above and beyond to ensure our center is safe for students, from equipping our center with safety cameras and securely locked doors (we utilize the KISI system for caregivers to securely access the main door), to ensuring our center is fully fire suppressed and following all required state and local inspections, and maintaining an incredibly clean, organized, and safe space, we know your trust in us stems from having a top notch facility.

When it comes to supporting your child’s development, daycare centers offer a unique and invaluable resource. At Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview, we understand that every child is unique and requires different needs from daycare – which is why we prioritize individualized attention and activities for all our students. We strive to provide an enriching educational experience that fosters socialization while developing key skills in literacy, language arts, math, science, technology, and more.

We support communication between families and staff through daily feedback via the Brightwheel Application, where parents can view photos of their children during the day along with detailed descriptions of activities and routines. Lead teachers hold parent-teacher conferences throughout the year to ensure progress is measured and connected between home and school.

Here at Kids’ Work, we are a full day program, with operating hours from 7:30am-6:30pm. Parents pay for the full day, but are welcome to drop off and pick up anytime within that time frame. Full time daycare refers to children attending Monday through Friday, where part time indicates that a child attends 4, 3, or 2 days per week. While part time schedules remain set, parents can request for changes (a different schedule of days, adding/reducing days) as the enrollment allows and proper notice is given. We know that parents’ needs fluctuate and change, so we try to be as flexible and adapting as possible!

At Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview, we have two levels: the first floor for our Infants and Toddlers, and an Upper School for our two year old students, preschool, and Jr. Kindergarten students. Preschool classrooms are geared towards providing a structured daily routine that allows for plenty of playtime (in the classroom, in our gross motor room, and outside) as well as instructional time via circle time and curriculum stations. As children develop and become more mature and independent, our Jr. Kindergarten classroom is a wonderful way for students to take their early education to the next level. Students participate in phonics and math programs, and our lead teacher is Type 04 Certified with a strong understanding of elementary school readiness to ensure that your child is ready for the next step in their education!

Yes, infant daycare is indeed different from regular daycare. At our center, our infant classrooms serve children 6 weeks to 15 months of age, after which they transition to our toddler classroom which is for students 15-24 months old. The main differences between infant daycare and regular daycare lie in the level of care provided and the activities involved. In an infant daycare, the caregivers provide more hands-on care – feeding, changing diapers, comforting, and facilitating nap times. There is also a focus on developmental activities appropriate for infants, such as tummy time, sensory play, and basic motor skills. The routine of the day is largely reflective of the baby’s natural rhythm at home and changes as the baby develops. Parents bring in all bottles, milk, formula, and foods in this classroom, however diapers and wipes are included. When a child transitions to toddler classrooms and beyond, the classrooms follow a set schedule, with specific mealtimes, rest periods, etc. and the curriculum takes a more structured form, meeting the students’ growing desire for exploration and challenge!
