Chicago theater celebrates 20 years of entertaining children

Parties At Kids’ Work

A birthday is right around the corner in the Windy City, but merrymakers will be celebrating a theater rather than a person.

A Piece of Cake: An Immersive Theatrical Experience for the Very Young will be taking the stage to celebrate a big date, as the host theater will be 20 years old. The event will be an interactive and immersive performance that is designed to entertain little ones, with children in preschool in 60618 being right at home.

Parents and their children will get to use their imaginations and build stronger bonds together to celebrate the theater’s birthday. The unique adventure-meets-theatrical production will use all of the children’s senses, helping them grow while having fun and discovering an interest in theater.

The actors and actresses in the production will use props and other resources to work with participating families to build a cake worthy of the birthday bash. Children will be encouraged to use their sight, movement, touch, and musical skills to contribute. It’s an excellent complement to the skills and knowledge learned through enrichment programs at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview’s. Parents can bring a phone or camera to capture all of the best moments from their child’s experience.

The Chicago Children’s Theatre, located on South Racine Avenue in downtown Chicago, will be the host venue and the subject of the birthday celebration. The production of A Piece of Cake: An Immersive Theatrical Experience for the Very Young will be held on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1. Families will have two time slots to choose from on both days. Tickets can be purchased online for $10 per attendee.
