Christmas experience showcases culture in Chicago

Welcome To Grow With Me Drop-In Classes With Purpose!

A beloved tradition is coming back for another holiday season in Chicago, giving area children and their parents the chance to learn more about how other cultures celebrate Christmas.

The Christmas Around the World event, which will be paired with Holidays of Light, is now available for a memorable and immersive gathering, where volunteers from around the Chicago community can share both global and family traditions that come from their heritage. The event will use over 50 trees and displays to represent these different cultures.

Attendees will see international celebrations of holidays like Kwanzaa, Diwali, and Hanukkah, as well as others from all corners of the globe. It is an excellent opportunity for young ones to learn more about the world and its cultures, supplementing what they’ve learned at preschool in 60618.

Parents can get a memorable family photo in front of the host venue’s Grand Tree in the rotunda, which measures over four stories high. Holiday treats will also be available for purchase through vendors like Stan’s Donuts. The treats can be a nice break from strolling through the indoor holiday forest and light displays.

This event will continue a Chicago tradition that dates back to 1942 with one tree, which represented unity in the midst of World War II. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that makes an excellent way for parents to grow with their young ones outside of Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.

The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in downtown Chicago is now hosting the showcase, which will run until January 5 of 2026. The exhibit is free to attend.
