Virtual reality experience helps Chicago families take flight

There is an invigorating experience hidden away in downtown Chicago, allowing families and their children to learn more about the city’s history while exploring it from a different perspective.

Flyover in Chicago, an immersive virtual reality experience, is open to the public, taking participants on a nine-minute flight around the city to learn more about its history, people, buildings, and epic locations. The organizers have designed the Flyover experience to be a family-friendly adventure that works with all five senses.

It simulates the feeling of flight and is paired with clear and stunning visuals to give the impression of flying through the Chicago skyline. Children who experience the Flyover will learn about the inspirational stories and people who helped the city become what it is today. It is suitable for children in preschool in Chicago and older who want to combine adventure and learning into one experience.

Parents can use the journey to bond with their children, whether they’re new to the city or sharing their personal memories of growing up in the Windy City. Children who join the adventure can enjoy their first sparks of learning about history and inspire future discovery, which they can build on through the teachings at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.

The experience is set up at the Navy Pier, located on East Grand in downtown Chicago. The exhibit is open daily. Hours are 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM Thursday through Sunday, and 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. Tickets cost $34 per person online.
