A fun and interactive fitness session is coming to the Windy City this summer, giving parents a unique way to help their little ones stay active during the break.
The KLK Fest, which is a fitness festival led by children and designed for children, is coming to the Franklin Fine Arts Center this July as a way to help local children stay active and stimulated over the summer. It’s being organized by Saran Dunmore, the founder of Kids Leading Kids (KLK). Parents are welcome to attend, though they are asked to watch from the host site’s perimeter and allow the event’s staff to manage the event. Lawn chairs are welcome.
Participating children will take part in up to six 15-minute exercise sessions led by their peers, which will be followed by interactive and fun group activities suitable for children in preschool in Chicago. A 14-year-old DJ, DJ EJ, will provide energetic music as the fitness sessions proceed.
The fitness event is an excellent option for parents who want to keep their children occupied after a year attending daycare centers like Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.
Standout high school athletes will also be helping to ensure the event is a success. Theo, of Kenwood High School, and Clarke, of Whitney Young High School, will be in attendance. Parents should ensure their little one has a water bottle for the best experience.
The Franklin Fine Arts Center in Chicago is set to host KLK Fest. It will run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 18. Registration is free and open online.
