A zoo in the Chicago area has announced a family-friendly celebration for this year’s Spring Equinox, culminating in an experience comprised of conservation, art, and light.

The Glow Wild: A Lantern Festival of Hope is coming to the Chicago area starting this month, with organizers planning to run the experience into May. The experience will be held during the evening hours, with visitors exploring the host venue’s paths that are lit by handcrafted lanterns that are designed to represent mythology and the different animals from around the globe.

In addition to the memorable walks, which are suitable for little ones in daycare in Avondale and the surrounding areas, guests will get to enjoy live performances, including music from different parts of the world. Other performances include storytelling sessions and dances, along with the chance to try new foods. Parents can bring their children to the festival to add to the lessons they’re learning during weekdays at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.

The zoo will provide three separate evenings that accommodate children who require sensory-friendly programming. Those evenings will be March 26, April 16, and May 7. Attendees can also enjoy the knowledge that their attendance supports conservation efforts and advances animal care.

The Brookfield Zoo, located at 31st Street and Golfview Avenue in nearby Brookfield, will host the Glow Wild cultural experience and festival. It begins next Thursday, March 19, and ends on Sunday, May 10, and is open Thursday through Sunday. The gates open at 6:00 PM. Families interested in attending and exploring can purchase tickets online for $24.95 per adult and $14.95 per child.
