A local dance production is set to take the stage in the Second City next month, offering a family-friendly event that captures the spirit of Halloween.
The Halloween Creepy Crawlies production is coming to Chicago to present a show that both parents and children will love. It was written by Mariah Eastman, the artistic director of Darvin Dances, a local company specializing in modern dance. Six professional dancers will perform during the show, along with two youth dancers from the Chicago community.
The story takes the audience down the path of exploring Halloween’s mysteries in a family-friendly way. It is appropriate for audience members as young as pre-k in Chicago. The primary character is a lost ghost that is seeking her home. Along her journey, she receives assistance from several other vibrant characters, including a tap-dancing skeleton, jazzy vampires, and a modern-dance mummy.
The City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events is helping organizers bring this show to the area to support learning, development, and an appreciation for the arts. A production like this can be a great way for children to continue to have fun outside their learning hours at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.
The host venue is only accessible by stairs. Interested parties who may be inhibited by the stairs can contact Mariah at Darvin Dances. The Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble, located on West Foster in Chicago, will host the show. It is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th, at 2:00 PM. Adult general admission tickets are $21.75, and kids’ tickets are $16.50 online.
