Chicago Symphony prepares performance for city’s children

Enriching Age Appropriate Learning

Parents in Chicago who wish to share magical and musical moments with their children this winter will want to mark their calendars, as the Chicago Symphony is preparing a weekly show.

Once Upon a Symphony: The Ugly Duckling will take the stage in Chicago shortly, providing a fun program for young children who have an interest in music and stories. The event will follow the story of a young duckling who is teased by their peers for being different. As the story progresses, the ugly duckling grows up to discover that they are not only not an ugly duckling, but that they are, indeed, a swan. Children who attend can learn the lesson that beauty resides within oneself.

Parents who attend with their children will get to help them explore different themes of life, helping them grow and add to the lessons learned at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview. The program is designed for children ages 3 to 5, making it an excellent experience or field trip for young ones in pre-K in Chicago.

Musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra will perform, igniting each child’s love of storytelling and adventure. A small ensemble of performers from the Chicago Children’s Theatre will also assist and appear in costume on constructed sets to bring the show to life.

The weekly show, which will be held at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra downtown, will open on Saturday, December 6th, at 10:00 AM, and continue until January 31st. Tickets start at $35 per person and can be reserved online.
