Fun Easter 2017 Events for Kids in Chicago

Looking for some fun hoppenings to do with the family this Easter weekend?

Hop on over to one of these fun Easter events and see if you can find some fun with hidden eggs, and of course everyone’s favorite – the Easter Bunny!

Friday, April 14

Egg Hunt at Maggie Daley Park

The best-known downtown park isn’t just hosting their annual Easter egg hunt like normal this year. For 2017, they’ve teamed up with Medieval Times and in addition to eggs, Easter egg hunters will get knight performances, medieval crafts, a parade, knight training, and more. There’s even a life-sized play ship, a wooden lookout tower, a three-level tube slide, and a wooden bridge to walk across and peer down at the onlookers below. 10a-2p, $5/child Located at 337 E. Habitat Park Egg Hunt

The Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago, located at 2100 Patriot Boulevard in Glenview, will have hidden colorful eggs placed all around their outdoor Habitat Park exhibit on Saturday April 15. Special and fun goodies inside the eggs range from tasty candy to fun gift cards – like a gift card for a 1-year membership to the Museum! The event requires additional tickets, and is subject to rescheduling in the event of bad weather. 10a-3p, all ages are welcome.

Bunny Rock Chicago 5K and Egg Hunt

Head over to Montrose Harbor, at 601 W. Montrose Ave. in Chicago, for a festive race packed with exciting fun and entertainment for the whole family, from 80’s rock music at the start and finish line, and a fun spring atmosphere for a race. Everyone who participates in the 5K race participants gets some sweet bunny ears, a dri-fit unisex t-shirt, cool neon sunglasses, and a fun finisher medal. For the kids, there will be pictures with the Easter Bunny, a live Petting Zoo, an Easter egg hunt for kids ages 2-10 with more than 3,000 eggs filled with candy. The Egg Hunt costs $15 til April 14 or $20 on the day of and is on at 10:15a;  the 5K is $40 til April 14 or $45 on the day of and starts at 9a, so head on out and enjoy the day!

Doggie Egg Hunt

For a fun twist, your family’s best four-legged dog pal can search for treat-filled eggs and join in the Easter fun with you at the Doggie Egg Hunt at Horner Park from 1-3p.

Skate with the Easter Bunny

Another fun option, you can skate on over to the Oak Lawn Ice Arena, located at 9320 S. Kenton Ave. in Oak Lawn, Ill. 60453, from 11:30-1p and ice skate with the Easter Bunny. He’ll be available for visits both on and off the ice. $7 admission, $3 skate rental

Easter Egg Hunt and Brunch at the Chicago Botanic Garden

Come and enjoy a delicious brunch in Nichols Hall on Easter Sunday with the family, then grab the kids and a basket and head over to the Rose Garden for the Easter egg hunt. Cap off the morning with a nice stroll through the spring flowers and colors of the garden. Time: 9a, 10a, 11a, noon and 1p Cost: $40, $35 for members; $30 kids 3-12, $25 for member kids; free for kids 2 and under
