A production geared toward children is coming to a Chicago theater this May, exploring different themes of life through a story that takes the audience to Mars and back.

The premiere of Farewell Opportunity has been scheduled, and parents with young children in Chicago will want to add the show to their event calendar. The show will be the world premiere, and it is suitable for children of all ages, including those in kindergarten in Chicago. The story was written by Georgette Kelly and directed by Raquel Torre.

It follows the journey of Halley, who makes an unexpected friendship while visiting the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab and seeing the Discovery Mars rover. Halley bonds with the lead scientist over the Mars rover through their shared interest in exploration and discovery.

The story is written to bring out a sense of poetry and magical realism that captures the imagination of little ones, making it a fun experience for parents to share with their children on days outside of class at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview. The audience will ultimately be transported to Mars to explore life as the Opportunity rover knows it. While children of all ages are welcome, the story is best for children 5 and over.

The Filament Theatre, located on North Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago, will host the Farewell Opportunity’s premiere. It will continue airing on weekends and Wednesdays between Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 17. The first show is at 11:00 AM. Tickets can be reserved online for $21 per adult and $17 per child.
