Outdoor adventure opportunity coming up for Chicago families

A Beautiful Location Creates Adventures & Convenience

Warmer weather is rapidly approaching in the Windy City, and families who want to soak up the sun with quality time on the water will want to mark their calendars for a canoeing adventure.

The Can You Canoe? family event is opening registration online to families in Chicago who want to introduce their little ones to adventures on the water in a fun, safe, and inclusive setting. The adventure, which is open to families with children 6 and over, allows parents and two of their children to enroll, making it an excellent option for children celebrating the start of summer break after a year of kindergarten in Chicago.

Attendees will enjoy an instructional experience where experienced canoers will provide tips and step-by-step instructions on how to safely propel and steer a canoe as a team. Families will also learn about the safety precautions they should take to ensure a positive and memorable day catching rays on the water.

By the session’s end, families will be able to efficiently and safely paddle around the pond before putting their skills to the test in a friendly competition with other families. All necessary equipment and safety gear is provided with the cost of enrollment.

The course will give parents a fun and adventurous way to bond with their little ones after a week of learning and playing at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview while also preparing for future summer adventures.

The Emily Oaks Nature Center, which is located at 4650 Brummel Street in nearby Skokie, is organizing and hosting the Can You Canoe? course. The date is Sunday, May 31, from 10:00 AM to noon. Registration costs $12 per resident, or $15 per non-resident, online.
