Playhouse series to bring spring entertainment to Chicago’s kids

Parents looking for an entertaining series to share with their children are in luck this spring, as an ongoing series is running at a library in Chicago.

Opera Cat’s Playhouse Story Time is welcoming families with young children for an immersive experience that will run until late May. The Story Time show will bring Miss Nancy and her group of friends together to sing songs, tell silly stories, and do crafting activities with children in attendance. It’s an excellent fit for younger children, including those in daycare in Roscoe Village and the surrounding areas.

Miss Nancy will be joined by Jack the Puppet, Opera Cat, and Henrietta the Chicken to share stories and songs with the families and children in the audience. The shows will be followed by a playgroup where children can make friends, enjoy social time, and discover a love of stories and plays. It is being organized by the Chicago Public Library.

Parents or guardians with children who are interested in joining the fun will need to register their child online through the library’s portal. Sign language interpretation is available for children who require it to ensure an inclusive experience for all. The series can provide a way for children who are enrolled at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview on a part-time basis to learn and grow on days they do not attend class.

The Walker Public Library on South Hoyne Avenue in Chicago will host Story Time every Friday until May 22. Children and their parents or guardians can make reservations online, and the sessions are free to register for.
