Chicago children with a love of puppets and storytelling will be in luck next month, as a puppet-themed festival is making a visit to the Windy City.
The Chicago International Puppet Festival is coming to Chicago soon, offering children in the city the opportunity to indulge in the arts and forge stronger bonds with their parents. The festival will span 10 days and be held at multiple venues across the city, making it more accessible for parents and their young ones.
Attendees will be immersed in a world of imagination and witness performances from some of the best puppet artists from around the world. Some ticketed shows are suitable for young ones of all ages, including those in daycare in Roscoe Village, while others are better suited for older children. The artists will participate in and share over 100 different puppetry activities across their time in Chicago, helping parents find time to enjoy the experience with their children after picking them up from Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.
The venues will range from the city’s landmark theaters to more personal settings featuring smaller stages where children can enjoy a better view. In addition to the shows held in theaters, he puppeteers have listed the dates, times, and locations of free shows they will hold throughout the Second City in January.
The Chicago International Puppet Festival will open on Wednesday, January 21 at the Studebaker Theater on South Michigan Avenue. The festival will conclude on Saturday, February 1. The event schedule, including information about free shows, is available online, and parental discretion is advised.
