The nation’s 250th anniversary is coming up later this year, and a re-enactor is coming to the city to provide a unique learning experience for parents and their children.
The Abigail Adams historical segment, which is being brought to the audience by historian Leslie Goddard, has a set date on the calendar, allowing families in Chicago to add the event to their planner. The experience is courtesy of the Glen Ellyn Historical Society, and is intended to bring new knowledge to attendees about Abigail Adams, the wife of the 2nd President of the United States, John Adams.
Children and their parents will learn more about the role Abigail Adams played in the early years of the nation, both as a partner and a patriot. It is suitable for students and children of all ages, making it a fun learning experience for children in kindergarten in Chicago and above.
Guests will see a living portrayal of the reportedly strong and fiery woman, with Goddard using information from her life to ensure a vivid performance. The gathering could be a memorable bonding experience for parents with children enrolled at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview, providing a weekend event that combines learning with stronger connections.
The Glen Ellyn History Center, which is located on North Main Street in nearby Glen Ellyn, is prepared to host the re-enactment and educational event. It is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased online for $10, and students can attend for free.
