4th of July parade to entertain Chicago families

About Us

Families in Chicago who are looking for a memorable way to spend Independence Day will want to mark their calendars, as a child-friendly parade and celebration is set to take place in the Windy City.

The 4th on 53rd Parade and Free Festival has made public the opening time for this year’s Independence Day festivities, giving parents with little ones advance notice to build the event into the agenda. The parade will welcome participants and spectators to the Hyde Park neighborhood to take part in or witness a community tradition that has been happening for over 30 years.

Parents with children in daycare in 60618 will want to note that marching bands will be performing, which may affect little ones with sensitive ears. In addition to the marching bands, organizers have brought together several themed floats and community groups to add to the parade and put local organizations in the spotlight.

There will also be space in the parade for children on decorated bikes who are proficient at riding. Other child-friendly activities that are featured are face-painting stations, a magician, bounce houses, entertaining performances, and several games where children can win a prize and return to daycare centers like Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview with stories to tell of their experience.

The 4th on 53rd Parade will be held on 53rd Street in Hyde Park, Chicago, on Saturday, July 4. The parade and festivities will run from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Admission is free for interested families, and no reservations are required.
