Parents who are seeking a new and exciting experience for their children this winter are in luck, as a Chicago institute is opening an archaeology learning opportunity.
The Junior Archaeology experience, which will be hosted by the National Hellenic Museum, will provide an unforgettable learning experience for children in preschool and kindergarten in Chicago who have an interest in history and want to let their imaginations flow. The youth workshop focuses on allowing young ones to enjoy hands-on activities that involve engaging with replica artifacts, including items like lamps and quivers.
The event is being brought together with support from The Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures, and it is part of the Museums in Conversation initiative. Children who sign up will get to play the role of an archaeologist, and parents will get to watch the experience light a spark in their little one’s imagination. It’s also an excellent experience for children who are enrolled at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview, allowing them to discover a new interest or passion.
Other skills that children will learn through the activity include critical thinking and observation. The session will be held in a supportive environment where children are encouraged to trust themselves and build confidence.
The Junior Archaeology experience will be held at 1155 East 58th Street in downtown Chicago. It is set to open its doors at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 24th. Interested parties can purchase tickets online. Member tickets are $5, and non-member tickets are $10. Parents can attend with their child for free.
