An immersive crafting experience geared toward families with younger children is coming to Chicago in a few weeks, offering the opportunity to bond and create lasting memories.
The Monarch Butterfly Shadow Puppet Workshop has opened registration to interested parties in Chicago and the surrounding area for the chance to use provided supplies to create a stunning shadow puppet to take home. Laura Lynne, a local artist and art educator with a strong passion for nature, will lead the crafting experience in a warm and welcoming way.
Lynne has experience leading several workshops that are geared toward students of all ages, including children in daycare in Chicago. Participants will learn all about monarch butterflies and their migration patterns during the workshop, combining a creative outlet with a learning opportunity. It’s an excellent way for Chicago youth to continue learning during their time away from Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.
After learning about the beautiful butterflies, students will use the provided supplies to create a shadow puppet butterfly that is capable of movement. The event allows time for each participant to take a turn with their butterfly taking to the sky in Laura Lynne’s Shadow Puppet Theater.
Teens and adults are welcome to take part in the crafting workshop and learning experience. Children aged 16 years and under must attend with a parent or guardian.
The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum will host the learning experience. It is located at 2430 North Cannon Drive in Chicago. The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, from 10:00 AM to noon. Tickets are $55 per child and $70 per adult online.
