Holiday lights to bring Chicago Arboretum to life

Fresh Air and Outdoor Time

An arboretum in Chicago is planning a memorable event for families to enjoy, pairing dazzling holiday-themed lights with a mile-long path lined with trees.

The Illumination: Tree Lights at the Morton Arboretum has an official date on the calendar, providing Chicago families and their children a fun and colorful way to kick off the holiday season in style. The experience, which is set to open on Saturday, November 15, will use a combination of nature, music, and lights to transform the landscape and let each young one’s imagination run wild.

The mile-long path will be ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)-accessible, ensuring all interested parties can take in the lights and enjoy the features spread along the journey. It will be the 13th year of the Illumination event, continuing what has become a cherished local holiday tradition for children in daycare in Chicago and their parents.

The highlight of this year’s experience is the Vivid Creatures exhibition, featuring four animal sculptures filled with color. The sculptures were designed by Fez and Heather BeGaetz. The event has previously been recognized by USA Today as one of the Top 10 Botanical Garden Holiday Lights experiences in the nation, creating a memorable learning and discovery experience for children attending Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.

The event will be held at the Morton Arboretum on Illinois Route 53 in nearby Lisle. Tickets are $24 for adults and $16 for children over two years of age. The experience will be open from 4:30 to 9:30 PM, and is scheduled to end on Saturday, January 3.
