Kids’ clothing swap helps Chicago families prepare for school year

Regular Communication Updates

An upcoming clothing swap is coming to Chicago, and parents who want to revamp their children’s wardrobes will want to mark their calendars.

The Back-to-School Kids’ Clothing Swap, which is being put together by Chicago Fair Trade, will be opening to allow parents whose children have outgrown their gently-used clothing to swap them for apparel in the correct size and in new styles. It’s an ideal opportunity for parents with little ones who have experienced a growth spurt over the summer months.

There will be plenty of “new-to-you” clothing options available in several sizes for parents to look through after swapping out the old apparel. Organizers are also aiming to provide an environment centered around family fun, with a creative activity area geared toward children and suitable for parent-child bonding time where parents can see their little one’s progress and creativity learned at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview before their eyes.

The experience will also feature Fair Trade giveaways and root beer floats to add to the festive atmosphere. Families are welcome to explore the host museum before, during, and after the clothing swap to learn more about fair trade and sustainability, and how children in kindergarten in Chicago can make a difference.

The Chicago Fair Trade Museum on North Broadway has been announced as the clothing swap’s host. The swap will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM this Saturday, July 18. Tickets are free for Fair Trade Museum members, and cost $10 per person online for non-members.
