Children with a passion for animals and nature will have a learning opportunity to look forward to this March, when a local nature center opens its doors to Chicago families.
The Owl Moon Fireside experience has announced an official date on the calendar, giving families with children the opportunity to build the experience into their plans.
The event, which is suitable for children 3 and older, will share the story of a young girl who accompanies her father on an owling adventure in the middle of winter. The story tells of how the young girl learned to “whoo” and communicate with Great Horned Owls.
After the story ends, guests will be led outside to call to the owls in the area. Registered guests will want to check the weather and dress for the conditions to ensure a comfortable experience.
The event could be a fun way for parents to indulge in their child’s interest in nature outside of classes at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.
The gathering will end with guests sitting around a fire and sipping hot chocolate, with children having the opportunity to get a closer look at owl pellets. It’s a suitable learning experience for children in daycare in Chicago.
The Emily Oaks Nature Center in nearby Skokie will host the Owl Moon Fireside event on Saturday, March 21, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Interested families can register to attend online. Tickets can be purchased for $7 per person.
