Storytime and yoga to combine in Chicago

Stories and stretching are about to combine in Chicago, providing area parents and their children a fun way to stay active while building lasting memories together.

The Family Storybook Yoga experience at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum has opened registration to interested parents and their children, with the goal of providing both exercise and stimulation to toddlers and children in preschool in Chicago. The event is being organized by Brain to Belly Kids Yoga, with the instructor leading participants through a stretch routine while reading from a child-friendly storybook.

The poses in this yoga class will range from fun to creative, helping to bring the story to life. Parents can trust that Brain to Belly Kids Yoga will help children who attend discover a nurturing love for learning and play. The company was founded by educators looking to put their skills and training to use, assisting children in and around Chicago, making it an excellent way to further the learning experiences from Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview.

Families who attend can unplug and discover a new way to bond. Parents will interact with their children through stretches, breathing exercises, and movement. It is an experience that is designed to accommodate children between 2 and 8 years old, though all ages are welcome to participate. All children at the Storybook Yoga session must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Space is limited, and attendees will need to bring their own mat.

The next session will be held on Sunday, September 14, at 9:00 AM. Tickets cost $22 for children and $27 for adults online.
