A musical learning session is open to children in Chicago, allowing parents to help their young ones discover a new talent or passion in a welcoming setting.
The Monthly Group Ukulele Lessons have registration open online to interested parties who wish to learn how to play the beautiful stringed instrument. The lessons will be led by Lisa Mannion, also known as Ukulady Lisa. Children who attend will be taught how to play several basic chords that will help them learn popular songs and increase their love of music. Children of childcare age in Chicago are welcome, and young ones can register for free.
All skill levels are welcome, and the ukuleles are provided to make the lessons more accessible to all. The workshop will last 90 minutes.
Mannion, a retired Army combat veteran and accomplished singer-songwriter, has dedicated her life to creating healing music. She believes that anyone can learn how to play the ukulele. The event can provide a musical path toward stronger bonds between parents and children enrolled at Kids’ Work Chicago Riverview; for example, parents may wish to pair the lessons with a family dinner, as there are several food options located nearby.
The Monthly Group Ukulele Lessons will be held at 1637 West 18th Street in Chicago on Sunday, January 11, from noon to 1:30 PM. Attendees will be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a free ukulele, among other prizes. Registration is open online, and donations are encouraged.
